hi everybody
i am looking for some help as the title suggests
on the weekend i changed my timing belt broke the coolant air bleed today after finding time to get one and started it
thats when it all went bad it ran for about 5 mins then it stalled and now it wont start
does anybody have any ideas what has gone wrong

how was it running while it was running for the 5 minutes? did you disturb any fuel lines?
are you getting fuel to the injectors?
to check, crack off the fuel unions on the injectors and crank the engine over from the key, if you dont get a nice bunch of fuel from each injector then its either fuel supply to the pump or something in the pump.
double check the fuel cut off solenoid power feed.

its definately not fuel i know that now
i bit the bullet and started at the end i guess and that was the bit i changed the timing belt.
and yes it is fooked in a big way
so how much damage can a snapped timing belt do at idle and is it time to go to a mechanic or can i work it out myself
if it is not too hard i am pretty cluey when it comes to motors so normally just need some directions
so in that case what do i do and where to start
worst case is a bent valve and a damaged piston BUT its pretty tough, usually you can get them going again by just replacing the push rods and any damaged rockers.
retime a belt (the old ones fine) turn it over by hand to make sure it wont make any expensive noises then , do a compression check on each pot followed by a leak down check on any that are suspect.
if all pots are about the same change the bent rods and rockers and have another shot.
thats the cheapy version.
I would suggest at least pulling the head and the valves for a MK I.
