my drivers door gives me the irrits

Every third time or so when I want to get out of the disco, I have to wind the window down and squeeze the top of the door near the lock so that I can open it. Why? probably because it's British. Occasionally I have to resort to opening the door using the handle on the outside.

How do you adjust the door catch mechanisim?

It is very easy fix, Unscrew door handles from trim and remove door trim, dont forget to unplug speaker wires from back leavering off door trim with a flat tool that assists in repoving trim the clips make a bad noise as they pull out.
Remove iner plastic seal trim near door handle.
Then its just a matter uncliping the locking tab pull the bar and tightening up the rod that goes to the door handle place back in and check when OK place locking tag back on,and refit trims. .
Hope this helps. Could not open my passenger door for a while unless you pulled it quicly now it is easier then the drivers so I will have to adjust it as well.

    rear door lock tab

    Hi All
Whilst checking possible reason for rear right passenger door radio speaker not working, (still not working) dislodged the door lock tab when putting door trim panel back into place. Are there any tricks or pitfalls I need to be aware of when cutting plastic dust liner and inspecting how to 're-clip' the door lock tab back into its proper place when I attack this tomorrow ????
Also, after removing the small screw for the inside door handle, could not see how to manipulate the door trim panel over the curve of the door lever. Any suggestions on these ailments for my 2000 TD 5 ??????
    Appreciate any help offered.

Well that was a stack easier than I was trying to make it.

Just for clarity it is my inside door handle that was failing to operate correctly. I pulled the trims off and was looking all over the place for a rod to adjust. Couldn't feel anything so got the torch out and was looking inside the door for something.

As I was beginning to think that I will just bend the rod slightly as that will adjust the throw, I saw that my door handle can slide back and forward about 5mm under the screw. So guess what, you loosen two screws, push the handle in the desired direction (towards the front of the car) and then do the screws up again - tight. Works like a new one now
