I believe the release catch is located in the front passenger footwell area
Before I ask these questions it should be known that my '95 Land Rover Discovery doesn't have a manual so I can't look these things up.
1) There is a light in my dash that is a green trailer what is it? and should it be on?
2) This one is going to sound really stupid, how do I open the bonnet? I had a quick look in the cab and I couldn't see a release latch and I couldn't feel one groping around the front.
Thanks guys.

1. I bet you have a bullbar with indicators in it...
reduce the wattage or fit leds.... The trailer light is supposed to flash when a trailer is attached to show its lights are functioning. (Does flash once per application when no trailer fitted)
2. Feel around on the other side of the vehicle!!!! Passengers kick panel!
Thanks very much, found the bonnet release and I'll play around with the fit leads tomorrow.
or it could be a trailer plug wired up er, differently.
I've put trailer plugs on both my disco's and both trailer lights have stayed on.
at least I'm consistant![]()

That might explain why I have the trailer light coming on repeatedly when I indicate left... the driver side ARB indicator assembly on my bullbar is rusted and one of the contacts is broken. I'm having it fixed under warranty on Monday so we'll see if it fixes the dash trailer light problem hey!1. I bet you have a bullbar with indicators in it...

the extra wattage from the bullbar blinkers ALSO causes the trailer light to stay on,,
they say--
5watt bulbs fix it,, bit dim i would have thought,,,

To tell the truth I have had my disco for umm about 7 years I think and the trailer light has come on for all of that time. I am to lazy to bother fixing it as it doesnt stop any indicators working, just tells me that for the last 7 years I have had a trailer attached according to it??

The trailer light should flash once when either turn signal first flashes and then not flash again unless a trailer is connected. In which case it will flash if the trailer's appropriate indicator light is working.
As pointed out if you have a bullbar (with indicators) these will cause a higher draw on the system and make it think a trailer is connected. In this case the light will flash with the turn signal. To remedy this you replace the bullbar indicator lights with 5W bulbs.

Hi, I have found that 10 watt globes is the max I can use in the bull bar lights with out the trailer light comming on & after converting my trailer lights to LED's I found that there is not enough extra load to bring the light on when towing the trailer.
