I am in the market for a TDI auto.It appears that the value ranges from about $5000 to $12000 depending on condition.Had a look at a couple in the lower bracket,both reasonable inside and out but with fumey motors at 260,000kms on the clock.I am assuming this is due to worn rings or can it be caused by blockages in the crankcase breather?
The last one I looked at was in the local auction yard,very forlorn,covered in dust and cobwebs but hosed down looked ok[metallic green].It had a new roof lining and dual battery set up,drove ok but once again fumes from oil filler cap,when removed from hot idling motor.The rego was due on this one,so I would imagine they would like to move it on asap.Maybe suit some one who has written their's off!
