Owner paid $14,000 for new motor in crate, shipped in from O/S. Has been invoiced as HS2.8, and vehicle run through Regency Park to obtain required certificates.

Not too sure what the different turbos would look like, but she definately walks all over the V8 manual.

Any TD is better than the V8 in my opinion. Just dont like using fuel for going nowhere!
    Nice truck BTW.

Yep, fuel consumption (or lack of ) is another bonus.

Gotta say, my next vehicle will be a TD. Just need to decide on the variant, and then fight with the missus over a body style.

Well, we picked her up last night, and I had honours of driving it home.

Feels nicer to drive than Dads 85 Rangie, but not quite as comfy as my 75. I'm not a fan of the 4spd auto...........yet. A few more drives should settle me in...

But since Mum can only drive an auto, it's a catch 22 situation.

the first 1/2 of the "go" pedal gives very little response,If the pump is the same Bosch pump as the 300Tdi then this should be able to be adjusted out a bit as well as taking out the centre muffler helps them spool up quicker.

Check out the 300Tdi fuel pump tweat threads for info, the search button will be your freind as Im not sure which will help you the most

but after that, the turbo kicks in and she launches quite nicely. Driving up some local hills in the Rangie would max out at 80 - 90 kph. This thing will ride 120 all the way with ease, if you keep the turbo spooling.

Has an ARB front bar fitted, with lights. 2 long range tanks under the sills, new dual battery setup, poly air bags, 2 spare wheels and tyres, and we pick up the cargo barrier and roof-racks later.

One thing we did notice was the fitment of sway bars. I think they'll be coming out, unless anyone can think of a good reason to keep them there.
Why would you want to remove the sway bars?

Unless your going to go changing the rest of the suspention they will make no difference to articulation but they make them soooooooo much more predictable to drive and much better through changes of direction than without them.

If you put a lift in with really soft springs then I would consider fitting diconnects but other than that I would leave them in.

Yah... Leave in the sway bars... disconnects for off road

Dad popped in on his way home to brag......

so I took a couple of snaps of the turbo:

Can't see anything outstanding here, but there are receipts for the adapting / converting of the the turbo ports. 62mm intercooler port (I think) 70mm out (I think), stepping down to the exhaust which is huge too, at least 65mm.

Either way, he is so stoked, he went and bought himself a 60L Waeco.

    grumble grumble.

Yeah nice rig. This appears to be the non VGT model as the turbo has a wastegate...

Unfortunately you don't have the VNT turbo version.
Here is a spec sheet comparing both.

pm me with email address if you want a parts list for the engine.
