The belt speaking may just be the belt. My current one is a PITA, current solution was to remove it, wash it very well, dry it well (in the oven on low for half hour worked a treat) then into a plastic bag with some talc powder, shake it up and put it back on - has worked well so far (until i drive through muddy puddles again that is... I was also told today that holding a block of dry soap against it while it runs can stop it sqeaking if it is the belt - haven't tried it as yet, will next time it sqeaks!

I am lead to believe you can get belts that are not so shiny on the flat side and these are much less prone to sqeaking.

Just a simple thought before you get too bogged down in pulleys and bearings! Although, it may be on the cards anyway!

Hmmm, it's hard to really tell, good pics though but angles are just not easy to see. I would also suggest checking the harmonic balancer isn't starting to delaminate, as it will push the belt out towards the front like that...

The easy away to tell is that if you put a straight edge across the front of the tensioner pulley, (A small ruler will do) it will be obviously cocked over to one direction.

I had to change my'n because I went through two chewed up belts before we realised that it had "kicked" its self out looked like the plastic bush type thing that holds it in place had colapsed not holding it central.

Had done it before I called you... seemed off whack, but it looks ok with the alt pulley now. Will check it again over the weekend during the day. Killer possums in my shed come out at night!

Mine had started squeaking and have tried talc trick but when the belt got wet it started again.
I sprayed So easy tyre cleaner onto it while engine running and it stoped straight away waited a while and sprayed again and have not had a problem for a while. Had read on previous post that when the belt gets dirty it squeaks so i thought i would try the tyre cleaner and it seems to work quite well. Have done this over the last two years with no apparent Ill affect or slipage of belt.
