95 D1, high pitched whine @ 800rpm or under
I've only just noticed this and I'm assuming it's belt/pulley bearing related. It's a fairly high pitched whine only at 800rpm or less and seeing as it's the last sound I hear when shutting the Disco down, I'm guessing its one of the pulley bearings.
I've tried WD40ing all of them to no avail in trying to nail it down. Has anyone experienced this and discovered what it was?

Could be your power steering pump
Ours was noisy for a while before it seized

I was going to suggest power steering pump also.
Engine noise will muffle the sound as revs increase.

Turned out to be my water pump, which basically died in one day. Sourced one locally for $150 and put it in myself, along with replacing the overflow tank, serp belt, radiator cap, and cleaning everything out and topping up with fresh anti-freeze. It's peace of mind knowing the Disco now has a solid cooling system. One of many things I learned during the process? The nut on the fan of the V8i is not LH threaded!!!
