Ok im looking at a 2inch lift soon aswell but first i've heard about having to change anything with the driveshaft. Just looked under mine and where the driveshaft meets the coupling at the rear diff its joined with 4 bolts, unless you mean somewhere else. So a little confused as far as i know mine driveline is a stock 97 one.

If your getting Dobinsons springs, why not their shocks as well?????? I've had Dobinsons springs and shocks on a l/cruiser 80 series [ they were on it when I bought it with a 2" lift] while we towed a 24ft van around and off road for two years. All up they are still going after 7yrs of though work. Bob H.

Can't speak specifically for the D1, but having the dob/lovells 2" lift on a D2, on road it is great. Ride has firmed slightly with new springs, but the difference new shocks has made is unbelievable. Just settles everything down. Having owned a D1 previously i would have thought it would be the best thing you could do for the on road handling. Obviously there is extra height, and this can create a different feel in the steering sometimes, but u would have to be pushing it to make a difference.

my D1 handled so much better with new suspension. the COG obviously changed, but the firmer springs and shocks made it ride soooo much better. I even took the rear sway bar off mine and didnt make a difference unless you pushed it extremely hard and fast into a corner and then it leant a little, not as much as my rangie does, sometime have to pull your arm in off the window ledge to stop from grazing your elbow

go for it, 2 ich is not much but it will transform your ride

oh, definately give shane a call at suspension stuff if you are in the market for some suspension, he knows his stuff

Mine handles better on road and is closer to a 3" lift as they are a bit stiffer plus the koni's make a big difference.
