I have a 2.5 inch from the turbo with one mid mounted free flowing muffler. Works a treat and sounds a bit like a V8. I think 3 inch would be overkill unless you have a very heavily modded engine.

Hope this works. Near the end of the clip bit of sound action.

When I got mine done (2½" Mandrel, fully free flowing centre muffler only) I was told that 3" was pretty much a waste of money.

The noise is not overly loud with no silencing, but a little too much drone for long distances I do in my opinion. Having seen and heard Grover-98 drive past me, I do like it though from the outside - assuming it was him, seeing as it was a white Disco with black bonnet and GROVER across the windscreen!!

I'll see if i can find a sound clip of mine.

Factory is 60mm IIRC, around 2¼ inch. I personally think it spools up a little quicker, and can hold hills a bit better, fuel economy was unchanged or slightly worse for the first month (although it also seemed to be driven harder cos I liked the sound...), now economy has dropped about 0.5L/100km but having said that it's had a service, valves adjusted and general love so I couldn't say its necessarily just the exhaust!

If you don't mind me asking what was the damage and where did you get it done?

I am considering doing the exhaust replacement as well. Although I was thinking straight 2.5 inch tube until the back and put a little muffler on the back as per original. Oh, and I'm a newy local as well.

    Cheers
