i cant comment on a rangie but i have taken my front swaybar off i was hoping to get some more flex but didnt but it also seems to handle the same would prob have different affects if lifted

yeah on the ranige it was very responsive when taking corners and there way a little difference when off road, but i'm hoping to put a spring lift this weekend and was thinking to take em off.

We have 2 d1's and a county and none of them have sway-bars
The disco's are abit rolly, but that can be fixed with a set of bilstein shocks
The county has bilsteins on it and it is as solid as a rock on road

i took mine off my d1. made a big difference in the rear, but bugger all in the front, so i put it back in. mine is lifted and longer shocks.

They didn't even have sway bars until about 93/94. Neither did RRC.

Mine doesn't have the rear one on due to smashing one of the chassis mounts on a large rock.
I used to disconnect it on trips and put it back for other times. It is noticeable that it isn't there now but you just have to be aware of it and all will be fine.
Still have the front one on.

Without a swaybar you will have better front travel in "Wombat Holes".

On a back to back test on my old 77 RRC vs a Disco with bars, mine had about 1-1.5 inches more articulation .

You will notice much more body roll at roundabouts without sway bars, but less "head toss" if you drive along typical Australian country roads with uneven shoulders.
So if you live somewhere without roundabouts it should be fine. I live near Wyong Road where there are 18 roundabouts in about 10Km.

Hey Simon . You have seen what Elmo does off road . I still have my sway bars connected . Unless you are going for a serious lift (3-4inches) i would leave them on .

It was the first modification I did to my disco.

Scrap it I say and then slow down for corners until you get used to sea sickness.
