d1 key wont turn
ok its starting to bug and worry me sometimes when i go to start the disco a 95 300tdi the key jams up like when the steering wheel lock is on but its not and sometimes if i take the key out and put it back in it turns but its getting worse to the point where i gotta much around with it for 5mins to be able to start her is this common

Pretty common fault.
When it happens try pulling the key back out about a millimetre. Sometimes that will let them turn.
If you keep having trouble it is time for a locksmith to repair the barrel.

so am i better to get it repaier or replace what sort of cost am i going to be looking at, if i replace it will i have to replace the doors aswell or can i get the same key barrel made up

Try this post, I had mine rebuilt 4 years ago and it still has the original barrel.

Yeah pretty common problem. I had mine repaired by an autmotive locksmith for bit over $100. The issue (as per the thread indicated above) is usually related to the stopper (don't know it's real name) that holds the key in the correct "depth" it wears out and key goes too far in.
The locksmith was aware of this and fixed it in an hour or so. Has been fine for 12 months.

looks like ill crack out the manaul take the barrel out and get it refurbished anyone know someone in newcastle who is best

Mine used to do that too. I found that giving it a spray with silicon lube worked well. Kept it turning smoothly for weeks....
