Another D1 Tyre thread

my 255/70's never rubbed in front they had heaps of room.........I still have my front sway bars on so limited in front as well

Well I found a place which will sell my the tyres at 290 and the rims at 190(25 of which is freight)

Only one other question do i need to cut the guards before fitting the tyres or is it find to drive around the city on them and cut the guards once i see if they'll fit without cutting

Don't stuff around with them - just cut the guards first as you'll need to do it anyway.
No point wrecking a new tyre or tearing up your guards when they hit.

A bit off topic however saves starting another thread, I am looking at putting 33's on my 97 Disco and was wondering how much of the guards need to be cut (i have already cut the rear), any pics would be great.
I dont mind putting flares on if needed but does anyone know of a local place to buy them (found some in the UK from Paddok Spares), does an off set rim help?
Oh it has a 2 inch lift if that helps.

I want to fit a larger size of tyre after I wear out the current standard 235/70/16s on my 1995 D1, which has a 50mm lift, but I don't want to cut the guards.
Reading through this and other threads I think I've figured it out but please tell me if I've got it right:

245/70/16s - no need to cut guards
255/70/16s - probably OK but have to try it and see.
Anything bigger than that ie 265/75/16s would need the rear guards cut.

Is that right?

i had to camel cut the rear guards on mine with 255/70's

That's interesting.
D1s obviously have smaller rear wheel openings than D2s.
