    Rust, Alpine Windows - ERPS

    I have a 98 TDI Disco.
It has the Alpine window rust.
had the car for 5 years.

    anyone not had this rust??????????????

Do you use Electronic rust devices???????? ERPS etc

    are they worth it.

    I've had the salemans pitch.

I have read, on the forum, a few defender drivers use them.

    Tanks

I've got a 97 with your exact same issue.

It has spent almost all of it's life outdoors though.... it even has it's own moss growing in some of the roof rack crevices

Saw one up here with a brown stain the full length under both windows. Which Landys have aluminium bodies or are they a thing of the past?? Do defenders have the same problem??

    Discoveries have a steel roof.

I had rust in mine (97 model) took it to a prestige body shop (was highly recommend and work on the likes of BMW's and Merc's). They fixed up one side which was rusting and checked the other side for good measure. That was after 7 years of ownership since new. Two years later both sides stated rusting... Not happy.

I keep on top of it with rust kill now and then but if it gets out of hand I'll take it to a panel beaters and get some sheet-metal put there instead, painted to match the exterior colour (or black ???)

Have you tried taking it back to the panel beaters?
They must guarantee their work for more than two years?
