    Windscreen replacement in Brisbane

    I found a glass repairer who very carefully takes the screen moulds off and reuses them. Saves over $300 on the cost quoted by other repairers.

    Repaired 2 in my windscreen last weekend total cost $35 there is a very cool little kit that Supercheap sell. It has a suction cup thingamy that you attach and away you go.

    Ufixit Windscreen Repair Kit - Supercheap Auto Australia

    It worked a treat with enough left over for the next couple. I just followed the directions and obviously your not supposed to repair them in front of the driver, mine were on the left of the screen.

    Was told by the local glass bloke the other day that if you claim for a chip with insurance you wont be able to claim for a new windscreen for 12 months in most policies.

    Why is my windscreen quote only $260 fitted... :/
    I've used them before with my D1 years back, no problems with anything afterwards regarding appearance, leaks, etc

    There is a guy in Sunbury that is a mobile windscreen fitter. I have used him before with work and he is a good guy. He quoted me $180 fitted for my D1 windscreen on site fitting. I think he trades under the name of Sunpro but someone may be able to comfirm that

    Ok that 'castle lookin place' in Bendigo (Windscreen City?) $260- fitted. they inspected teh windscreen moulding first to be sure they were happy with it, they also pointed out to me a little crack already existing in there as soon as I dropped the car off (must haev been to protect themselves from me accusing them of the damage). So ask me again after I drive in the rain but so far, very happy with it

    Most should be able to re-use the mouldings but I know for a fact that O'Briens are pretty much the most expensive. I actually contacted Ritters and for a replacement screen for my D1 it was only going to be around $300 or so from memory, and they should be able to re-use the mouldings.

    Don't know much about repairing chips or glass insurance. My screen got chipped by some idiot truck driver on a highway a while back, going around 100km/h and he was losing his load of relatively large stones (crushed rock or something) while going that fast and one bounced up and hit me square in the screen and chipped it. It isn't cracking but it's a chip none the less and it's right in my eye line so it's un-roadworthy. So we got all the details of the truck which thankfully had plenty of advertising all over it and got in touch with the company straight away and I've got them details of a quote for a replacement which they reckon they'll pay for...of course I haven't seen any money yet but they sound decent enough about it.
