When does the ABS light come on?

It is supposed to come on at startup and won't go out until you are doing nearly 10 kph.

As far as the stalling is concerned, V8 or diesel?

it will be a V8 for sure......

as for the abs light if it comes on and stays on will be a faulty wheel sensor or at least it was on mine

The most common causes of stalling is evenly spread between old spark plugs/leads/dizzy cap/rotor and the stepper motor being dirty.

It is pretty cheap to replace the plugs/leads/dizzy cap and rotor ($200-400 depending on whether you use cheap leads or expensive ones) so if I had just bought a Disco V8 I would do that. ONLY use a genuine Lucas rotor if you do this.

The stepper motor is situated at the back RH side of the plenum chamber and a couple of qtips and some metho will clean the tip and also the barrel that it moves in.
