I had a similar problem on my Falcon, we put a piece of thin cardboard (greeting card folded) behind the factory battery as the case had got minutely loose over the years. I am guessing about LR keys as mine is a normal key not remote.
Just made me think my remote for the disco isnt working either but it has a red light that tells me the signal is working, probably a crap JB central locking in my car.
Hope the cardboard is all you need.

My 96 D1 does exactly the same thing!
I found 1 x remote had faulty solder on the circuit board but in my attempt to fix it I totally destroyed it!
The other unit with new battery and good circuit board still does not function 100% of the time.
Often when the central locking/immobiliser does not function I have to giggle the main power lead from the batt and "hey presto" we are all systems go.
Sort of like a computer that you need to "shut down and restart".
(Probably another lose elektrickity connection that I need to sort out when next wielding a spanner under the hood)
But when all else fails and I know in this day and age it is probably beyond the capability of most folks but:
I USE THE KEY TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE CAR
(Just like we use to do in the "old days") LOL
Not much help I know but that's my take on the same situation,

The problem is more than likely dry soldered connection in the remote and also in the central locking computer/control board. Connections just need to be re soldered.

Same deal, but you will find its a mixture of the carbon contact on the board for the battery and the crappy film tactile switch they use.
The tac switch has a habit of flattening out the little dome inside itself from pressing it too hard resulting in it not making contact correctly inside. I have replaced the switch in mine once to something slightly harder to press but when you look at the inside of the plastic button you press, it has two hard plastic bits alongside the softer centre that makes contact with the switch.
These two bits are a support that make the button rock along the length of the button and stop it from rolling sideways and getting stuck, something I found out the hard way.
Best thing is to find a SMT low profile tac switch with hard plastic button centre and trim off the rubbery bit on the case button.
With the carbon pad on the circuit board, theres not much you can do about it other than just pull put the battery and clean the contacts with a bit of MAF or CO2 cleaner and give the battery a wipe over.
Try not to touch the battery with bare fingers when putting it back in if you can help it.
Cheers
Andrew
