Why dont you just buy a bearmach one then?

Just wondering if anyone has built a cradle and mounted a winch on a D1 without a bullbar?
I've found this link Land Rover Forum
Can you buy a ready made cradle in Oz by chance?
I was considering pulling the bar off, and building a plate/box setup like the bearmach.

Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
Both ARB and TJM make winch cradles that could be used without a bar, the ARB mounts further back behind the front chassis crossmember and the TJM mounts to chassis and should tuck in behind an original bar.

I made one for a classic Range Rover to fit a low mount Ramsay below and just in front of the Air con condenser. It was basically mounted to each inside of the front chassis rails with a plate between them reinforced with webs.
The bumper had to have it's bottom edge trimmed to clear the fairlead and a window made through the grill to reach the clutch lever. The number plate was hinged at the top and dropped down over the winch concealing it's presence. So only an expert would notice the plate was a little forward of its usual mount, the window for the clutch access and the plug for the hand control.
It also had remote controls on the dash.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Slightly outside the square,,,
Warn and I guess some other brands also make cradles to suit mounting on the rear towbar, so if you tow a boat, or are in need of manoevering trailers etc in tight spaces and would like to do it via the front of the car, this could be another option as well, or even adapting one if the price is right, (?)

i can get pic of it but its a jackaroo
In the old days, LR themselves used to supply one which fitted behind the bumper and between the chassis rails.
IIRC it used to be for the Superwinch X6 but I think you could get the X9 fitted there too.

thanks for the input. I was hoping someone might have made one, but I'll call TJM and ask about theirs or huntdown a bullbar even.
What do you do with the oil cooler hoses and such in the current setup?
