    Lightbulb Squeaks and Rattles

I discovered the entire console bit the speedo is in, isn't actually attached to the dash! WTF?! I was going to sikaflex it down, but does anyone have any advice?

Also, the entire section surrounding the gearlevers squeaks and rattles and carries on when on a rough road. Yes, it's a Land Rover, but once again is there a fix for this one too?

you sure its just that the two screws are missing at the front and you can lift it up? should still be attached at the back by the two tongues that it slots on too.

mine never had the screws on the front for ages and actually squeaked less!

ever since I had my dash taken out for the heater core the bloody things squeaks and carrys on like god knows what ****es me right off but I'm not pulling the dash apart to find it
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

i think some genius must've broken those tongues off. There's some glue getting around the back of the pod.

I have the same problem exactly. Screw holes are broken and tongues gone.
Mine does not rattle or move at all unless I move it deliberately. I recently crossed the Simpson desert and had plans to screw it in to the dash on the first day if it was a problem. I would have put 1 (short) screw each side down low on either side of the steering column. You wouldn't see them. How ever, the console never moved or rattled the entire trip. I will leave it alone. Cost of replacement is not worth it. Sikaflex is a good idea if you don't want to screw your dash.

I have slipped a piece of rubber extrusion ($8ish from Clark Rubber) around the whole binnacle:

Looks neater- no gap between it and the dash top
No squeaks- they come from other places in the truck; I'll get them too one day!
Reversible - as opposed to sikaflex; inevitably once you've sikaflexed it down you'll need to get in an change a bulb or something

    Need a pic?

Mine has one broken tab on the top and both screw holes have the backing broken away.

My fix is to use the one tab on the top and two screws with oversize heads in the existing screw holes. The screw heads are covered by the steering column surround so it still looks factory and is fairly solid.

My centre console squeaks for a while whenever I pull it out or go 4wding. I always mean to spray silicone spray on the leading edge of it where it contacts the dash but I have never got around to it.

    Here we go:

A bit of Clark Rubber ingenuity and a better looking/fitting dash binacle
