I understand completely, Simon, having been through engine problems of my own.

Hey all,
Well just got the call from my spanner and my disco is ready to go!!!!
After he changed the head, valves and gasket there was still a blow back effect in the motor, and he told me that the block was shot as where the pistons and rings so he put a new block and changed everything from bearings, pistons and rings. Just waiting now for my funds to come in and i'll go and get her.
when i get the invoice i'll put exactly what was done to her.
cheers simon
Hope it all works out at the end of the day.
Got to love the english language and its interpretation.
Happy motoring.
WELL........ i have got her back today after nearly a month and a half away on repairs holidays and could say that she is running dream BUT a little worried about the 1st gear kicking in hard at around 3thou rev's. They put a new timing belt on and was thinking that that might be the prob. The auto box was running fine before with no probs at all. Before she went into surgery she had no guts whats so ever but now she just glides especialy up hill on the black top where i heared they have a bit of a prob. i'm sure that the spanner would have taken it for a test drive multipule times and would have noticed the kick so i'm thinking everything is sweet BUT will call first thing monday morning to suss it out.
i've just named a bunch of the bigger stuff other wise i'll be on here all night so........
1. Fuel return line 11. piston ring's x 4
2. cylinder head 12. crank shaft bearing
3. exhaust valve x 4 13. big end bearing
4. inlet valve x 4 14 . labour x 25hrs at $88.00
5. valve collet x 16
6. head surface & pressure test
7. vrs kit
8. head cyl gasket
9. timing belt
10. turbo
11. piston rings x 4
12. crank shaft bearing
13. big end bearing
Sooooooo glad that she is back where she belongs and lets hope that she dosent see the mech hospital for a while.
Cheers simon
mate thats a big list, must have been a mess in there .......as i said I'm not a mechanic, but i still feel that mechanics have a really bad habit of doing things ass about ....but in saying that ..your mechanic has obviously taken some responsibility for his work only charging for 25hrs labour.....its a pity he had to go so far mate but at least you have her back in one peice...all the best mate
cheers
