    need zf advice

got the disco back today 300tdi

had the zf rebuilt she only has 140ks on the clock the reason i had it rebuilt was that when it was cold it would take about a km to get out of first and the last week before i took it in it would sometimes not be in gear when selected anyway its been in the shop for 2 and a half weeks and $2200 later i picked her up the sarvo got from maitland got to edgeworth about 40km it was going so good gear changes were so smooth it was great pulled up at a set of lights and took off and she just wouldent get out of first rang him done what he said and got from edgworth to mt hutton which is prob 15km in first gear all the way he said wait for her to cool down i have and shes still stuck in first, i asked him to keep all the bits he replaced and he hasnt now im worried on the reciept it says he has done
    gsr kit
    friction clutch kit
    filter
    tourqe convertor
    govenor support
    fluid

he think it is a sticking valve body

Sounds like governor issues still, if it stays in 1st gear. Was the governor ITSELF replaced? The support will wear out for sure, but the governor as an assembly needs careful attention.

Valve body is a possibility, and is easy to replace with the box in the vehicle but I'm still leaning toward governor at this point.

as far as govenor being replaced im pretty sure he said he put a heavy duty one in and on the invoice it says grs kit at $168 thats not the support as it is listed further down, ive been thinking about it all night and being low on fluid was always on the back of my mind but i thought cant be possible its just been rebuilt anyway that bit of doubt made me check it and sure enough there was ony just a bit on the bottom of the dipstick so i filled her up but still no second gear any other ideas thanks for the feedback i really appreciate it im pretty stressed about it

well things are only getting better just went to give her anather go and back to the old tricks of not going onto gear after a few revs she threw into reverse $2200 and it still wont get out of first full stop and still dont go into gear sometimes

just took her for anather run and she went into gear but was no getting out of first, on a downhill run she would go into second at about 50 and stay in that till i stopped

a mate of mine is a transbuilder, he did a td5 zf, it was doing the same thing, had the box in and out looking for something he missed, ended up being a cracked valvebody, got one from Manuels the next day and all was good
Get your builder to get the vehicle picked up and stop driving it until its fixed, good thing its under warranty though

yea he can organise to get it back to him, i cant drive it as it wont even go into gear full stop anymore, and he told me that the valve body cant be replaced but someone else said it can be done without even removing the box from the car

That doesn't explain the lack of gear engagement. Glad it is OK now though.
