I'm thinking head gasket or waterpump.
I've seen water pumps hold pressure when hot and drop water when the system cools dowm.
I have been topping up the cooling system a bit too regularly - each time I drive it.
I have a coolant level alarm and it goes off when I brake down hill. I top up the to just over the level (about 50ml) before I go anywhere and sure enough in under 20km the coolant sensor goes off when braking down hill.
I've had the system pressure tested - 3hrs no loss of pressure
The coolant alarm does not go off if braking on the flat or uphill so I do not think it is a short.
I have just replace the reservoir cap and no change.
Where is my coolant going? Should I be worried?![]()

Noooo, don't tell me that. I've just had an engine rebuild and new water pump fitted![]()
Check for leaks in the LPG converter hoses.

Also check your passenger side floor under the carpet .... just in case your heater is leaking
Yay, Thank you Ron.
I ran the car up to LPG operating temp and found a small drip off one of the converter hoses. I waited until the engine had cooled down again and tightened the hose clamp, wiped up the small puddle under the airbox (one wonder I could not spot anything on the floor), ran up to operating temp and no leak visible.
I'll keep an eye on the coolant level for a couple of days, but hopefully that is it problem solved.![]()
