    96 running rich

    ive read a few threads and have tried a few things.my v8 is running rich and at idle there is a put put type noise.(maybe valve?)done 255kms but always serviced and drives well but seems to lack grunt on hills.any ideas'done 3thou kms since service but wasnt tuned.

    At 255k the cam will probably be lacking a fair amount of lift,(worn away lobes) and the valves will definately be inneed of attention, maybe even new exhaust guides etc. A top end overhaul sounds like it is looming. Get a compression test etc done first. Has the MAF been checked? This will cause excessive richness and fouling of plugs if it has failed.

    i pulled maf of while running and it stalled so am i rite in saying that this is good?

    Not really, that just proves that it hasn't totally failed. Can still send bad numbers to the ECU though, and still idle.
    I would be getting it looked at by someone who knows 14CUX systems, to test all the bits and bobs but I am still leaning toward mechanical wear and tear with those km's.
