Could Blowback in a 300tdi be due to the Turbo ???

    G'day guys,

Just got my 300tdi fixed consisted of gettting new head, gasket and valves done. took it into the spanners to get a blowback in the engine fixed but after getting those things done its still there. I was told that one of the turbo fins are bent is that enough to blow oil out of the injector pump????? im thinking that i've just spent $3,500 of money that i dont have and still there is a problem.
I'm hoping its the turbo or the pipe, any suggestions??

    cheers simon

re 300tdi leaking from injector pump, is it from the throttle shaft or ?

is it engine oil or diesel that is leaking?

when you say blow by what exactly do you mean and what are the exact symptoms of the problem?

'Blowby' or crankcase pressure is caused by worn rings or excessively glazed bores. The breather system in a 300tdi will not cope with too much pressure and will end up pumping engine oil into the intake system and turbo-intercooler- inlet manifold-injector pump boost compensator etc etc.
The way to lessen the effects of this is to fit a baffle to the rockercover where the breather 'cyclone' bolts to the side of it to direct some of the oil mist away from the pipe, or fit a PROVENT (Search here will find info or PM Isuzurover) which will completely stop the oil circulation and will return it to the sump where it belongs. BUT, there is no stopping the fact that if the crankcase pressure is high it is a piston ring to cylinder wall sealing problem.
