    Could this be a case of building up a reduction in pressure in the fuel tank until the pump cannot drag the fuel out?

    Just passed a semi and the damned engine cut out. A bit of scotch-brite on the spade and all was well thereafter. It hadn't played up for two years or so.

    Glad it was simple

    I had one last week where the solenoid itself had failed. Tried the jumper wire etc etc and pulled the solenoid eventually to bench test and it was as dead as a dead maggot. Difficult to get off had to grind a spanner to fit in there.
