I think the cradle is about $170 , you can make one easily out of 6-8mm plate. If you can find a steel place that can fold 6-8mm you could make it out of 1 piece with no welding required.

fabracation is no problem as im in a machine shop but the drama is that i dont know where its sopost to go, is it just a plate that is flat or dose it have to fold 90 deg and touch the front of the bar ? so far i get that it has to have the 4 holes for the main footing and have clearance fot the spool line but im not sure where the rest of the plate needs to go, im tempted to just weld the steel plate to the inside of the bar and brace the back of it that would float in the air to the inside of the bar just behind where the licence plate would usaly go (centerd) then blast the bar and repaint it for rego

PM me your email address and i'll send you the pics i loaded earlier if you still cant see them, the arb cradle is folded on all sides but you only need to fold a [__] shaped plate that bolts in using the bar mounting bolts. Or if you are anywhere near NE Mel you can come and have a look at mine at take measurements.

hey thank you very much for sending me the photos, it looks nothing like i thought that it would, im sure that im going to have to buy one now, i had hoped it would just be a flat plate i could flame cut and drill but not so, sooner i order one the sooner she will be pullin. ps arb said that there was no cradle required.....maby all the new bars have them stiched in now, this one certinly dosent have any ware that even comes close to mounting with out the kit,

can any one tell me, is there light at the end of the tunnel , do you ever stop buying upgrades for your 4wds? cheers, thanks again for the photos, is any one going to the 4wd show next week in melbourne ?

The latest ARB Air bag compatible Bull Bar for a D1 is independant to the winch mounting plate.
The winch plate is bolted to the chasis rails by 3 bolts on each side. 2 where the tow point is located and 1 further back where the steering protector rail is mounted. The winch actually hangs from the plate. The plate is an accessory costing about $160 dollars including all mounting bolts. Although if you have a separate recovery point/s you will require longer bolts.
As the winch hangs from the plate it is quite exposed to what ever splash's up underneath the vehicle. ARB also offer an optional winch protection plate that bolts to the bar and winch plate. This cost about $130 and attaches with 4 bolts. I did have the mounting instructions in electonic format, but it appears that I have deleted them (sorry). You may be able to use other brand steering protector plates but I didn't look into it.
    Hope this helps

yes, i will just conferm this is corect, it is impossibul to mount a winch to an arb bull bar for a disco 1 with out the mountng bracket or "cradle" as there is no where for it to go, most other arb bars the winch is up front however it dose hange down the back, and why the heck any one would want it hanging down exposed with out a cover i have no idea, thank you all for your coments. btw. the warn xtc9500 is the largest winch that will fit to a disco series 1 airbag bar. because of the close chassis demention. (with out modifying) and for the record, a high mount winch is not possibul according to arb.
