    Safari Snorkel...

    Hi guys and girls,

I bit the bullet after standing back with the drill in hand, staring at the markings on my quarter panel, and drove the wholesaw through it!!!! haha
But I am very happy with the end result... one newly fitted safari snorkel. I picked it up for what I think was a good price, there was a promotional deal at the Wauchope 4WD show that was $450.

I would add a pic but it was a little late in the afternoon to take a good pic, so that is tomorrows job!

It was a far easier process than I thought it would have been. With thanks to Matt from the local 4WD supplier.... lol. who gave me a lend of the wholesaw as I had just missed getting into my old work to pick one up from there.

But..... (there is always a but) he did manage to sell me a rear recovery shackle point that I probably didnt need to buy today!

So if anyone needs a hand to install a safari snorkel... id be happy to lend a hand!!

    Cheers,

    Brenton

Good work Brenton! I love cutting holes in Discos etc for snorkels, and I get paid to do it!!!

$450 is a good deal, I won't fit anything other than Safari as they at least fit properly and are well designed/ molded.

I got one really cheap on ebay resontly, it doesn't come with the head or hose assembly, but it will be being fitted to a 200tdi d1 (its ment for a 300tdi) and they have a different airbox and all you need is a streight bit of hose about 6''s long from the snorkel to the airbox.
I'm not shore if it will line up though, probably not...
    Anyway congrats!!!
    Any pics...

Thanks guys, its pretty good to do something yourself, gives a sense of achievement.
I got some pics this arvo, I am very happy with the fit, just need a couple of finishing touches with some silicon.

I also bought an Old Man Emu steering damper, got that for $120 also which I was stoked about and put that in late yesterday. Its amazing the difference from the old one...... lol funny that, when it was the original LR one.....
All round its been a good wknd for the ol girl, been pampered!

oh... the engine bay is disgustingly filthy I know.... but its just so the new snorkel has some contrast.......
