Well, two weeks on, I am still happy...

    Hi All,

Well I have had the new (to me anyway) D1 for just over two weeks now and I must say I am very happy I bought it. So far no let downs, everything is as expected.

Just did fuel calculations today, over last two weeks 500k mostly around town and one trip in to the city, managed 19.3l/100k. I thought that was pretty much what I had expected, hope for better on a trip, will see soon I guess.

    So where to from here....

I have ordered Sequential LPG injection, just waiting on gear to show up and it goes in for install. I am very much looking forward to the difference in fuel cost.

Decided to go with an 80l tank installed inside and keep the long range petrol tank 120l for travelling, especially when I can't get gas. I am not too worried about the loss of storage as we will be towing a camper trailer and this means can't open back door fully anyway, so space here is not a premium. We are only two, so plenty of other space between tank and front seats.

Looking to fit a cargo barrier and probably a false floor for when we get to serious travelling, in the mean time, will use what I can.

Can't wait to get things sorted and start planning first decent trip.

    Cheers, db.

    Still waiting on parts...

    Hi All,

I had a call from the installers yesterday, they should have received all parts today, I am hoping it goes in for fitting next week. I will take some before photos this weekend and get some after shots next weekend hopefully.

I will also give it a tune up and change all oils this weekend so it is all good and ready to go.

Just have to decide what oils to use, I am trying to determine what will be best, lots of different opinions it seems.

Will hope to do some new consumption figures soon after install as well, so will update with what I find.

    Cheers, db.

Here are the photo's of my sons D1 twin 50ltr gas tanks and false floor conversion. You may also notice he has a sub woofer fitted in the right hand rear side pocket and his duel battery in the left side pocket. He also modified his fridge mount to fit under the small rear seat so when he goes bush he just unbolts and removes the seat and slides in the fridge

    Hi All,

    Just a quick update.

I got the truck back from the LPG fitting today, drove really well on the way home (50km ranging from heavy traffic to open highway). Very impressed, no noticable difference between LPG and petrol so far.

I will try and get some photos on the weekend and post them, will also start doing some consumption calcs.

    Cheers, db.

    Hi Mate,

Sounds great, the D1 is a fantastic car to travel in, especially 1000's of k's at a time. Might want to check the service record to see when the timing belt was done.

    All the very best

    Jay
