That is the only thing that has annoyed me with my Waeco. I had a recurring problem that the error lights showed up as either a failure of the motor control board or the compressor. I took it in three times however it faulted many times during trips initially.
First time they said they found no fault. Second time they replaced the motor control board and the power lead. Third time they found it had been over gassed so was too high a pressure in the system. Has been fine ever since the gas pressure/volume has been corrected.
A different place/repairer each time as each time the previous repairer was no longer an authorised Waeco repairer.
So all that time and it wasn't even faulty parts.

I think it is funny that the ARB fridges are plastic now. ARB bagged the Waeco when I bought mine due to them being plastic.

Do the ARB fridges run Danfoss compressors?

Anyone know who actually manufactures the ARB fridge now?

I have had my Engel 40L for about 17 years now and it has never missed a beat, weather I run it for weeks on end on fridge temps or on -20, or it sits idle for weeks then plug it in, works perfectly. Its been all over the Northern Territory and NSW and now spends its time in the car for days out in England, I wouldn't be without it.
Oh and it fits perfectly in the back of my Discovery 1.

Plastic top and bottom.. Danfoss BD35 kompressor

Steel sided. Made in china somewhere

Thank you! That is what I was after. Was either thinking of running the 40l (with a two zone top) or getting the 60l combo and running that side ways if you know what I mean :angel:

I have seen the twozone accessories, think they are a great idea, we can get all this stuff in the UK now but only in the last 2-3 years, the standard Engel will fit end on in the disco with the boot roller cover over it, with the twozone it would stick up a bit but only up with the rear headrests.
The Engel's are made in japan i think, very good quality, even better now with temp guage etc, sliding tray is very good idea if you are fitting the back out properly.

I think that has made my mind up then... 40L engel with a fridge slide and bag!

A 47 Litre Evakool fridge/freezer combo fits like a glove without having to mount it sideways. The 55 Litre unit is just a touch too long. I've had mine now for about 5 months and it hasn't missed a beat yet. It stays permanently in the car and copes very well with the Kimberley heat, dust and corrugations. I have a picture of it in the "post a picture of your disco mods" thread and am unsure how to post it here. I will keep trying and see what I can do.

But seriously it is a good fridge, i think 4wd Monthly did a big write up on fridges a few months back and gave the ARB a really good review.
