Hi a 40lt Engel just fits in the back of a D1 without dropping the seats down. But if you have any thing mounted inside the back it won't fit.

Just a quickie,
when my tax cheque comes through, one of the first things I am going to buy is a fridge. But, I was just wondering what was the biggest fridge that I can mount without taking out the rear seats and still have it running the same way as the truck? Engel waeco national luna, whatever...![]()

a 40 lt engle and a wheelchair that carn't folded fit behind the seats
I have a 50lt Waeco which fits in the back of my d1 width ways without the handles on. The 40/50/60lt Waecos all have the same footprint so they all would fit. I have a cargo barrier in the back which makes it a tight fit though.
With the experiences I have had to date with my fridge, I would be reluctant to recommend one though.
Cheers

Check out the 47L ARB fridge, its a good unit and will likely fit in a d1 as well

Hi Cal,
you hear lots about other makes of fridges but not much about the Arb fridge. If that photo is of your fridge I wooudln't mind finding out what your thoughts are of it.
They look like a good unit and the video they have about them on the Arb website shows plenty of good reasons for buying one.
The other question is how much do they cost roughly if you don't mind?
Cheers,
Terry
Nah that was a pic from expedition exchange, although it looks exactly the same as mine, Ive only had mine a few months and so far its been great, i havnt had any big trips to give it a longer test but i powered it up from 240 from home to get it nice and cool before the trip and it ran perfectly on 12v without setting it to really low temps and that was just using the standard 12v plug in the back of my Prado. Current draw seems pretty good as we have an old battery on its last legs as our 2nd battery and it never missed a beat. We have also powered it from a 12v jumper pack no problem as well.
It also seems alot more solid then some of the others i looked at, similar to the waeco's but i liked the ARB design better, and i wasnt keen on the steel engels.
why were you not keen on the steel engels?? Weight? The arb fridge is a good unit. I just dont know if it would fit though. Not terribly keen on a weaco either because of the plastic thing.
