    Leaking Diesel

Just noticed my Disco is leaving puddles of Diesel every time i park it... is sitting at 3/4 full after only 170 Ks which for mine is VERY low... The leak is up the front end. And i was wondering if this could have all been my fault... Last week i stupidly drove just that little too far only to run out of diesel, i then simply got a jerry filled it up then drove to the servo and filled up. Is it possible running it dry has done any damage?! if so what sort of damage would it have done so i know what needs to be fixed... as its a pain to watch money drip out the bottom of your 4x4!!! (mainly when your a uni student oh so limited cash to throw away!)

Thanks in advance guys, and yes i know next time ill fill up as soon as the light comes on

You might have to be a bit more precise with the leak location.

I have seen them leak at the lift pump, injector return pipes, injector pump, etc.

Sorry i really should have been more procise! apolagies! it is leaking from the front end of the vehicle, my main purpose of the thread was to see if running them dry results in any common breakages in pumps lines etc... then tonight with the torch i plan on getting under and trying to find the leak.

not usually, my initial suspect would be the filter then injector pump to start with tho as thats where the fuel gets under pressure to start with.

It is unlikely that running dry will have caused the problem to occur. As said, check the fuel lines under the bonnet (they are quite obvious), paying particular notice to the filter, lift- & injection pump, all junctions/joints and fuel return line from the injectors.

    Cheers
