    panhard rod bushes

I am going to replace the bushes in the panhard rod this week (D1).

thinking of using poly bushes and I am after the pro's and cons. I know that poly is a 'harder' compound but for the job of the panhard rod, this should be a good thing...shouldnt it

I personally use genuine LR rubber panhard rod bushes and I see no reason to change to poly type bushes.

Go Genuine... They need to flex & wear out for a reason.

Your bushes are wearing out because of the flex that monster has Last flexy 110 I did that had scorpion 4" extra droop travel and a 3" lift on the front and rear, I had to fit a Rose joint and adjustable ferrule to one end of the panhard rod to allow it to droop. If you don't do something like this, you'll be fitting bushes every 6 months or so and putting undue pressure on the bar and its bracketry.

I don't suppose you have much dust in tassie.

I tried some Polys in the panhard about 20 years ago just before a trip over the Simpson.
When I got back to Sydney there was over 1MM clearance around the bolt.

While they may be OK in the leading arm bushes etc, the constant rubbing movement of the panhard killed mine in short order, and they were harsh, but the steering was very direct.

HA! you jest young Phillip!!! We have plenty dust here, don't you worry That is another good point, and another reason I don't fit poly anything as I have also seen worn out radius rods that won't take factory bushes anymore due to the rubbing action of mud, grease and sand/ grit.

    USE A PRESS.....

trust me it took us a long time to remove all the bush to fit my polys...

burn the be jesus out of the rubber knock out the center then take a hac saw to the outer metal liner..being carfull not to cut into the thing your trying to knock it out of, like the hole in your panhard etc

If you pull the bar out and bring it down Mark, I'll press them in for you for a Flat white and 1 sugar

    Use a press...

If they come out or go in by hand then it's FUBAR!

BTW - To make life easier when changing them next time, put come copper slip (anti-seize) on the bush before pressing in.
