So put the whole one shot in each side? Seems like alot of grease? Can u buy the one shot say at supercheap and places like that? Got a tube from British...so that's it then and it's done?
so did I and I nearly tore my hair out trying to find them on a 95 model....
it had been retrofitted after an accident.... I thought I was going insane

Its CV Grease and from memory a landy "one shot" tube contains about 300ml of grease.
I've got a couple somewhere, IF I find one this weekend I'll get a quantity from it for you and if I dont or forget shoot me a PM on monday

My 96 tdi has the square plugs (filler, level, and drain). But my 99 tdi has none, so its the grease jobbie. I prefer the option to fill.

I have actual read on the one shot bottle that its a (ONE TIME) fill and all is good...that true????
my fill plug is a square one and normal heads on the rest..
cheers simon
yes and no.
yes in theory add the grease and thats it your problems are solved.
no, its not that simple you also have to convert your wheel bearings to grease as theres no longer a replenishing supply of oil to keep them lubed. Its also a lot harder to check it for contamination.

oh ok bugger, didnt know you have to change your bearings, but now i can see why..i have new bearings but dont know how to change them..i was just going to drain and refill with grease..guess i'll have to wait till i can get someone to give me hand..thanks for that blknight![]()
you dont have to change the bearings, just pull the hub down pack the old ones with grease and re-install them.
I sense a howto coming on as I have a disco to do a wheel bearing job on from work.

The way I check for contamination and level of grease is to turn to lock and dip the filler with a zip tie. It will give you the level and also you will see the colour of the one shot. Mine are still honey colour .
Mine also has the drain plug so I crack it to see if any water comes out and also dip it as in theory oil is lighter than water and any water should come first.

so is it an easy job to change the wheel bearings??? thinking now to taclke the job myself..things is i dont have a hub nut socket, was getting one but ran out of stock and theres a 3week wait...
