Thread: majior overhaul questions

well its time to go to town and give the old girl a much needed majior overhaul

on the cards is

timing belt with the upgrade kit and valve clearances thats getting done over the weelend by someone who knows there stuff

got a new rear greasable ball joint as mine is flogged out also got all new rear trailing arm bushes that is an easy changeover

got new oil cooler hoses as mine leak like crazy getting a mate to do them

got swivel hub kit and new front bearings this is where my main question is i got 2x swivel kit majior but one of them has a SEAL OIL HUB(OE) but the other kit dont have one should they both have this or is this kit for one side

also got a low coolant alarm why i was there my question with that is where it taps into bleed screw i got new brass ones not long ago but the one in the kit is only plastic should i tap it into my brass one or just use the plastic one

other than that it has new altantor, powersteering pump, fan belt, bottom radiator hose, so she should be in tip top shape ready for a long weekend away next weekend

Can't help with the swivel kits but as a suggestion for the coolant sensor, I tapped mine directly into the side of the thermostat housing so that it did not protrude up into the bonnet sound deadening mat. I put mine on the left side as you look at the motor from the front and made sure it didn't interfere with the operation of the thermostat. Polly fitting should seal well by itself but if it leaks then a couple of turns of thread tape should do the trick.
