    Wheel Nuts D1

    hi my D1 has these wheels on it






    i have now got a set of these



    I take it i cant use the same wheel nuts ????


    where can i get the right ones from?????

    you can use the same wheel nuts. If you pull off one of the nuts you'll see that it has the taper at the start for holding the old school wheels and then up the shank it has the flat for holding the allys.

    clever them blokes at landrover, not like some other four wheel drive mobs I can mention.

    When I got my new steel wheels, the guys I bought them from organised me new nuts to suit,,I cant remember how much, but I think a little shy of $100 all up, with 3 for the spare too,,,
    Any Tyre place should have access to them if you cant get them at somewhere that sells bolts etc,,

    you cant use the nuts from the alloy wheels as they dont seat properly and your steering wheel will vibrate i had to get the normal ones for the steel wheels when i got my spare set

    which rims were you using DD? MY HD series ones got big red out of trouble when I had to take all the wheels off at home after I lobbed all the weights.

    I have picked my self up a set of steel rims to put some mud tyres on and asumed the alloy nuts would fit as the spare was a steel rim with no other special nut provided. May be they are ok to get you out of trouble only. I may need to find some other wheel nuts myself, anyone got a set spare. Or can you confirm if alloy nut will be ok.

    I'd check the user handbook. But lots of D1s have a steel spare so unless they gave you five extra wheel nuts I'd say that the alloy ones will do, they have got the taper on them.

    The one piece alloy wheel nuts will not fit with steel wheels. These were fitted on most Classic Range Rovers & early D1s.

    The alloy nuts that have the stainless covers fitted (which appear to be fitted in the very 1st photo) have the correct taper for the steel wheels as explained by Blknight.

    they fit but they just dont seat down into the steel rim enough hence the vibration and bk i have these as my daily's with ht's on them now

    I bought some second hand ones from British Offroad. From memory they were only $1 each plus postage. The steel wheel nuts are open end unlike the alloy ones (if that makes sense).
