    If I have this right

    You installed a aftermarket immobiliser
    .... AND then .........
You totally disconnected the factory immobiliser

Did you do the work yourself ... or did a Auto spark do it???

Yes i had an auto sarky put it an aftermarket immobiliser that complyed with the adr rules to get the disco over the pit.
he said he had disconnected the factory one .after 5 weeks of using the remote today my father in law used the key to lock the door. When my wife used the remote to open the door the lights flashed and the horn went off. the red light( by the radio) for the factory alarm was flashing first time since we got the new one.
So any way we we used the remote to lock the door unlocked it with the key and the alarm stopped
Cant understand it myself but we understand our quirk ATM might go ask the sparky about it?
    Thanks Rob

Couple of weeks back the wife put new battery in the zapper of the immobilizer, used it and the cabin filled with smoke. Immobilizer burnt itself out????????.

Seems as tho your car is Doubley secured

I don't think it was done properly ... Seek the sparkies advise, as only he knows what has been done

Agree with Mike here, looks like the sparky has not disconnected the old one fully.

The old one might still be linked to the drivers door lock through the central locking when using the keys on the drivers door.
