Personally I always felt the automatics revved like hell and went no where. They're literally screaming out for a lower stall converter. Now it revs less, actually digs in and uses the torque of the diesel engine. Although having had a manual too, I reckon the first gear take off would be a bit irritating.

cant quite make out if they r at,s or mt,s? Im in the market 4 a set also, cant seem to pick up any second hand with 80% or better

Hi Dean,

They're definitely a mud terrain - basically identical to the BF KM1. I paid $230, but that was including a fair bit of freight from WA. They would have been under $200 without freight. I can take some better photos.

Haha, the BFGs

. They are in my shed, on steelies in case needed. They've done 66,000 km service across two Land Rovers and one Hilux which went the rough way from Darwin to Broome and back. The people who have had problems with them clearly have psychological issues pursuant to the DSM-IV-TR. I know a good psychiatrist in Melbourne who could issue appropriate medications for those people.

I decided that MTs were no longer aggressive enough for my requirements and went to a bias comp type pattern today. Opted for 265/75 even though I know that 235/85s fit my car. Went and picked them up this afternoon.

Well FMD. I expected a 265/75 to be around the 32inch mark. I've lined one up next to my cousin's 35s on a Land Cruiser and there is nary an inch difference. Buggered if I can see how they will fit my D1. Rears will be fine as I've done the camel cut but the fronts will be interesting.

Anyone heard of a front camel cut?

Not too stressed however as I have a set of flatdog flares and plently of free time coming up.

Hi

I posted this a while back when I was looking at new tyres. After having these fitted for a while now and doing a fair bit of driving on the beach, I'm very impressed and they make a huge difference in performance offroad. I'm off to Fraser Island next week and intend to put them through their paces during the week. My speedo is now identical to the speed the GPS shows too.

I've just replaced my Cooper H/T tyres of stock standard size 235 70 16 and gone for the Yokohoma Geolandar A/T-S 255 70 16 and can vouch that these are the absolute maximum tyre size I can fit onto my Disco which has a 2" lift. At extreme lock they do touch VERY slightly. This isn't of any concern to me as its only when the steering is at extreme lock when you hold the steering wheel hard against its max turning stop.

My current running heights measured from level ground through centre of wheel to top of bodywork arch are as follows (unloaded car);

Front left; before: 821mm after: 845mm
Front right; before: 828mm after: 851mm
Back left; before: 850mm after 872mm
Back right: before 850mm after 874mm
