    Interior light problem

    Hi all,

My interior light was not working on the drivers door and on further investigation I found the wire off the back of the switch. I fished in out and reconnected it and the light now works fine. The problem is that when the door is open an alarm sound is coming from some where. This is very annoying because I am getting in and out to check things or when camping and have the doors open to listen to the radio that alarm sound keeps going off. Is this a safety feature or a problem. Can it be disabled without disconnecting the light. I think this is why the pervious owner disconnected it. Any help appreciated. The car is a 1996 disco 1.

    Thanks, David.

This is a normal feature of the car, and yes it is annoying!

Here is a thread from The Fish about stopping it.

    Gday David,
Is the sound alarm only coming on when the Keys are in the ignition? What i have done to combat this it to put a 3 pole switch and run the radio off the Aux battery when the ignition is off and the keys are out. Put the switch into the other the radio comes on when the ignition is on. Mine is also a 96 so i feel your pain!

    Cheers Jim
