    Question Diff Guards?

    Hi all,

I'm looking to fit front & rear diff guards to my D1.

I like the look of the Qt's but at over AU$200 each....

Was hoping to spend a bit less than that, but will shell out for them if they're worth it.

I'm interested in the experiences people have had with different types/brands of diff guards and what is good & bad (protection offered, ground clearance, access to fill & drain plugs, etc).

    Cheers

Hi DiscoClax - here is a current thread about diff guards which might be worth a read: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...or-advice.html

There's quite a few other threads, so you might like to try searching for "Diff Guards" and you'll pull up something relevant.

Ah, yes.. The search function. That would have been a good place to start. Apologies.

I'll go have a look. Thanks for the link.

    No worries.

This site will give you a UK perspective on things. Worth a search too: [ame=http://www.landrovernet.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=69]Land Rover Defender - Land Rover UK Forums[/ame]

Hi dullbird, do you lose much clearance with the Qt's? I like the 'slider' part of their construction, but I really don't want to lose any clearance.

You will loose clearance as they 'wrap' under the diff. I have a front QT and even tho you loose a bit of clearance you have great protection as it allows you to slide over obstacles or plough through mud with much less resistance.

What Stooge said...the only clearance you'll lose is the thickness of the metal, which is minimal in my opinion. And besides, the ability to slide over things more than makes up for it. I love my QT guard. Definitely worth the money.
