Replace it with a Brass one, Try a plumbing place, about $10
I forget what they are called, but often see them at 4WD shows and they ask about $15 for the same thing
Here's what I mean Expeditionware Brass Plug -- EE -- Expedition Exchange Incorporated

You can get a brass or galvanized one from an irrigations supply place or even Bunnings. It’s a 1/2" tread, very common. Any hardware or plumbing store should have them. I paid around $3:00.

I got worried when I snapped mine off as I through it was going to cost a fortune but turned out ok.

    Cheers, David.

Every time I drop something in the engine bay it always ends up on top of the diff in those little hollows on the rear side or on the chassis rails.
