Disco 1, +2" suspension, Shock mount relocation

    Hi guys,

i have been running setups through my head for ages reading thread after thread, and slowly know just as much about more possibility's. I'm looking at a 2" lift and have heard good things about flexi-coils, used in the back.

what i am confused with is what length shock to run and whether lengthening the shock mounts with corresponding shock is worth it. as for moving the shock mount in the rear the only way you could go is forward, and i wonder what effect this would have on the ride.

also wondering about coil rates for the front as i have been recomended no to go with flexi-coils up front.

I would love to hear from someone using a similar setup

    thanks in advance
    Adam

Edit: i've got a 200Tdi and i've got a steel bullbar, plans for rear bar (tired of re attaching plastic end caps) winch and eventually a roof cage

re the rear coils, are you looking at getting max flex for offroad or is it a tourer and you just want comfort???

have you called Shane at Suspension Stuff yet?? he is the man to talk to and can advise you on a good set up for your intended use.

it's gonna be a bit of a hybrid, i enjoy a challenging climb but i do camp a lot, taking heavy trailers at hwy speed. in short as much as i can without the need for blue slip and not decreasing on-road too much.

the flexi-coils i have been looking at were from Suspension stuff, but am really unsure about the shock length and front end.

Has anyone had any experience moving a rear D1 shock mount?

    Thanks
    Adam

yes, but there is no point for a 2'' lift.
good allround rear springs ive found need to be in the 220lb to 250lb range, the fronts neeto be 180lb to 220lb.
if you want to run 10''+ stroke shocks then you will need to look into raising the front towers, the rears can be dealt with with extended bumpstops.
2''spring and shock kits will not need modifications to shock towers.

    cheers phil

stick to around 10'' stroke and use extended bumpstops.

    cheers phil
