    Exclamation 200 TDi windscreen

So I paid the extra $23 to get a free windscreen with my insurance policy, and I asked myself; "Whats that actually worth, should I need it?" Anyway the Auto Glazier was at work today, changing a window in one of our forklifts, so I asked him, and said he would get back to me.

I got a phone call on my dinner break and it went something along the lines of:

    "Are you sitting down?"
    "Yes I am in fact"
"A windscreen for a diesel Discovery is........................... $2854"
    "I'm sorry?"
    "Yer umm $2854"

Hid did mention however there is the same windscreen without the electric heater for $390 but if the insurance company is paying I want the speccy one!!

I haven't got the paperwork back from [insert insurance mob here] but surely there will be a clause saying that they won't give me a $2800 dollar windscreen each year if my policy is only worth $1100 PY.

But between the W.W.W. and me I hope they forgot to put in this clause

Surely you 200TDi owners aren't handing over 3k for a crappy piece of glass?

You'll probably find the insurance company has the choice of screen suppliers so they won't go genuine.

Until they find out that's all they can get .
    (as far as I know)

List price is $1404 from a LR dealer so that's quite a mark up going there.

    Part # BTR705.

That's still more than the premium though.

Get a Defender mate, the windscreen is cheaper.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Insurance will only pay for a genuine if it is stated in the policy (like for like)
The only person to get screwed on the deal will be the company who fits it

So what happens when genuine is the only option?
Surely it could be argued that the heated screen is required for safety reasons so they can't fit a regular screen.

That's going to be my argument. It will sure be hard driving to work on those cold Perth winter days.

But I don't need one just yet so all is good.

my insurance covers windscreens as well, however the windscreen rubber is not covered.and the rubber is more expensive than the non heated windscreen. I havn't been able to find a non genuine rubber.
