Thread: D1 Drivers Door Lock (Barrel)

Hi All,

Yesterday when going to lock the drivers door on my 98 300Tdi there was a small click when I had the key turned about half way, the key was also stuck in the lock and wouldn't move in either direction, when I did eventually get the key out and put it back in to again try and lock the car the key was just spinning in the lock. I've removed the door card to have a look but can't see anything out of place but I'm quite docile when it comes to car repair.

Any advice or previous experience would be great.

My 95 V8 did the same thing. Have a look in the bottom of the door and you may find bits that have dropped off the end of the lock barrel. Can't remember exactly but there is a washer with 2 flats in the hole which fits on the end of the lock barrell then a circlip, may even be a rectangular circlip.
