2 position or fixed
Going to buy a cargo barrier for the disco, not to sure on witch one to buy.
Milford make a fixed one and a 2 position one.
Mainley using the cargo barrier as we have a bubs now but will do some boys trips as well.
Just wondering how the 2 position thinghy works and if the 2 position one is less strong in a crash or rollover.
Any picks showing how the 2 position works would be great.
Oh and price for the 2 position one was around $470 not fitted is this resonable price

I just have a dog guard in my RRC which is reinforced by having rated nylon straps to the rear seat belt points.
IMHO the issue of 2 position will depend on whether you intend to remove the rear seat at any time eg a 3 month trip, and also whether you have a fridge slide /drawers anchored in the boot. If you have a fridge slide etc , then this will set the positions of what you put in the rear seat area somewhat. Will it be worth shifting fridge slides, drawers etc to get optimum use of space?
I have a fridge slide anchored in the boot, and a set of drawers which are tied to my dog guard, so the placement of these determined the fixing of stuff when I took the rear seat out. So I anchored all the stuff in the back seat in Nylon boxes tied to floor fixings by nylon rachet straps. This was topped by soft stuff like clothes and pillows etc.
3 Boxes from Big W fitted neatly 2 high across between the wheel arches and were anchored front and back so that they couldn't fly in a roll over.
So I am inclined towards one position.

I have (I think) a two position barrier in my D1. I say this because it actually has 3 positions.
There is an extra set of brackets to mount the barrier further forward for when the rear seats are folded forward. I have never used these.
However the main brackets for use with the seats in position have a couple of holes in the lower bracket so I can move the bottom of the barrier forward or back by about 4 inches or so. I find this useful when camping as I can pack stuff between the seat and barrier and reduces the amount of stuff that can fall out when you are packed to the roof and need to open the rear door. For general use however I have it forward so that things with a wider bottom fit more easily.
As philip said the decision is based on wether you think that you will want to have the barrier set up in both positions or not. i.e will you have back seat passengers when you go camping or will you always be solo.
BTW you could always look at making up a second set of brackets yourself - there is not a lot to them.
