If there's coolant in the pots ... it'l be from filling up the pot, between the hours of "when the motor died to when the mechanic tried to start it" .... A small hole in the head gasket that the starter motor can't push the coolant back up through it quickly /// Hence, hydrologic lock

If you want help, it is a good idea to give some useful information.
I have no idea what kind of engine is in your disco and what you have provided as far as what has been tried/tested/history is particularly vague and not of much help.
Although it may be a disco I, engines and related problems are not specific to the vehicle model - IMHO more people who might have the answers would see the post if it was in the tech section rather than here.
its a 300tdi with 155k, as far as what has been tried and tested nothing really it died i called a tow truck and had it dropped at a mechanics they troed tp kick ot pver and said it seems low on compression, other than that ill be waiting for them to have a look at it after the holidays some time, never even thought to put it in the tech section
Disco_Mitch,
If you are up for it, a trip in the Defender to Kurah/Medowie forrest may take your mind off the problems, and have some wet fun while at it.
I also have a feroza you can drive today in the bush, get a feel for a real car
Cheers
