Outer windscreen finishing strips removal and replace???

I have a TA Disco 1. How easy is it to remove and replace the outer windscreen finishing strips.
Looking at rave it doesn't go into much detail. It appears that they are slid onto the screen and then fitted as an assembled unit.
Any one successfully removed just the stips and replaced them

Hopefully I'll get shot down in flames for being wrong, but from memory the rubber surround has to be cut away and replaced when fitting a new screen. It's been about 8 years since I had a windscreen replaced on my D1 and I'm a bit vague on it.

i had one done a few weeks ago and he said because its insurance he will get new rubbers as mine were not to flash which tells me they are replacable but he put them back on with the screen all as one so i would say the screen has to come out to replace them and i think there around the $300

I was hoping that wasn't the case.
I wanted to remove the top trim only and repaint my roof so I didn't have to mask it with tape and have an edge of new paint that could peel later

Our windscreen guy removes these & refits the originals so it can be done.

Don't ask me how he does it though but I would imagine they're glued (Sikaflex) in place.

My windscreen was replaced before I bought the Disco and they reused the old trims, they used Sikaflex but it was not a neat job. The trim has undulations with sikaflex underneath.

Can you force a piece of rope under the entire length of the rubber?
This will make it possible to get the new paint under the seal.

A mate of mine used to do this on old Commodores when they weren't so old (VH and VK etc).

I was going to do this with mine when my roof needs respraying but haven't looked at it that close. I'm going to do it white. Make it look Defenderish

Are you going to remove your alpine windows and rubbers?

Yep I will remove the Alpine windows and rubbers.
I heard KY jelly is supposed to make refitting them easier.
