Thread: Advice please

The rego number you quote, and the one in the photo advert is not the rego number on the vehicle. Do you know why?

Generally if a car is tidy it means it has at least been looked after by previous owners but there are always exceptions, the k's are fine as long as the driving test doesnt show up any problems. Its a lot of car for $7990 in my opinion and being from a dealer you should have a little protection from major faults.

Looking at the pic of the dash, the shroud around the ignition switch is quite apart. Looks like something has happened there.

I have a 97 TDI turbo Diesel with 280,000kms on the clock and it is still going great. Check the service log, the TDI motor is an excellent motor but if it hasn't been maintaned properly with services you may find yourself chassing problems.

Yes i noticed that after another look at the pics, i would be asking about that before handing over any money.

Also pay for it to be inspected by the motoring body NRMA RACQ etc.Well worth the $'s spent.

I got a D1 - Tdi. Been a great car I have done about 60K in it since I got it just over a year ago. Saved my bacon as I injured my back and the comfort is fantastic on and off road.

Mate, save a heap of cash by being patient and getting a good one. I love my car, it is my favorite possession, but I have spent too much on it as it was not looked after by the previous owner.

The things I have replaced needed replacing and I have had a little bad luck with a timing belt breaking.

If you are not a mech, take it from me. Take your time as the folks say, drive a few, see what you like. Me it's the deisel, so cheep on fuel and so powerful offroad.

There was one piece of advice I read above which if I had my time again I would follow to the letter. Contact a recommended Land Rover mech and see who wants to sell one. Second go through a forum like this for advice.

A LR in good working order is pure joy, each one is different. The community here is tops.

Maintenence schedule is prefered every time.
I rebuilt seat via a vechile upolstrer, $150 great investment.
Get the timing belt done unless done recently.
Spend the money to get it checked out if your not sure, LR specalist only........!!

Their are a great vice, everyones gotta have a vice right.....? 10K is about right too, andything less and you are proberly buying a lot of problems. There are LR's for sale in this forum and through mech on their notice boards. I would go for one of those.

Good luck to you, a good one is wel well worth it, but as the others say, be prepared to walk away. Don't do what I did and make the car fit the dream. Be practical, get a good one.
