is this a hole or is it supposed to be there?

    Hi Guys

poking around under the disco i found this suspicious hole in the (if you could tell me what id be much appriciated?)..its a little over a cm Long and 1/2 of wide looks pretty clean but has a rough edge on the back side of the hole ....look like it has been broken out or a punch hole form a rock or something ...not to sure there is some fresh oil spill around the area but I'm not to sure if its from the hole ....could someone enlighten me ...

    cheers

I think its a hole to allow leaking oil to drain from the bell housing. I have a manual R380 and there is a similar slot but it's in the centre of the bottom of the bellhousing.
If you didn't have it, the leaking oil from the engine rear main seal would just build up inside the housing

Curious to know what is behind the 3 bolt plate? Mine is a R380 I don't recall seeing that when underneath.

its a comined drain hole and levering point so when you goto remove the acess panel from the front if someones gasket gooped it on you can get it off.

Good point. You I think, but I'd still like to know about the 3 hole panel.

In which case, it'd be better to block it up completely. Ignorance can be bliss.
