Hi all ,great and most helpful site ! , I am a new member and recently purchased a 1998 Discovery 1 v8 automatic . The vehicle has 115,00okms on the clock and seems to have had two owners . I brought this vehicle on E-Bay from a dealer in Sydney ( I'm in Brisbane ) and paid for a full check up from a vehicle inspection outfit . Anyway my question is this , when the truck is cold the gearbox goes from park to drive/reverse smooth as silk but once the motor gets up to temp the gearbox clunks when engaging drive/reverse . There is no clunk when the motor kicks down !Any suggestions ? Many thanks , Ginger

mine does the same thing and it might have to do with your idle. if its idleing too high and you put it in reverse (Mainly on mine) i get a bit of a kick out of it but after adjusting the idle she's all fine.

Or could be just some backlash in the drive train taking up. They all get it eventually.
