    steering turns to crap

    qick question

    every time i start out on a drive my steering starts out find and soft and no noise from the steering pump but when things heat up a tad my steering gose hard and sounds like crap on the pump any ideas as to why?

    you'll probabley find the pump is cavitating

    the usual culprits are low oil level, dead oil or a leak inthe suction line from the tank to the pump.

    the evidience is bubbles in the tank once the problem starts.

    yeah right??? iv only had the car 8 months now i'll change it when i get down to portland then, also i do know it has a leak as well but even with the leak it was running good

    if youve cavitated it from low oil you may have killed the pump.

    V8 or TDI ?, check alignment of the serp belt on the ps pump pulley, if its starting to frey on the inside then your puller/shaft of the ps pump may be walking which signifies your pump is on the way out.

    only belt slipping is at full lock,

    iv never let it get too low at all,

    when the revs are up at hot she works sweet

    i had a quick look just now loanrangie the wheel looks sweet no movement i'll drive to work tomorrow and have another look only because stud road is alot of stop and start so should get nice and hot by time i get into ringwood
