Newby looking for a 4by
Hi all! I'm brand new to this site and it looks like this is the right place to come for advice!
So I'm in the market for a D1, preferably the update so 1994/later. I have seen heaps of them out there for under $7K. I would like some advice on what to look for when buying one. What are your recommendations in terms of TDI or petrol or duel fuel? What problems should I steer well clear away from? What are obvious things to look for? I'm fully mechanically minded, but just don't know a lot about Discoveries. Even better, do you know any that are for sale (apart from the obvious ebay.com or carsales.com). You guys are the pros so any help would be great!
Thanks,
Ant

Too much to answer in a simple post.
Have a good look on other posts and see what u find, diesel is efficient and torque and petrol is torque but very thirsty. 20L/100 average.
There are currently some very good ones for sale on this very site.
take a look in market section.
A 300 tdi from 95-98 seems a good buy in your price bracket and they are very reliable usually, make sure it has a good service history, get it checked by a Landy mechanic and take several for a drive, they all seem to drive differently depending on tyres and lift kits etc.
Even a high mileage one is a good option if been looked after.
Enjoy.
